Entering the heart of the Campi Flegrei, one of the oldest areas of our territory, entire chapters of history will overlap. We will cycle along the coast passing through the suggestive Castello di Baia, Piscina Mirabilis and Casina Vanvitelliana, without forgetting the Monte di Procida where we will seem to touch the island of Procida with our hands.

The panoramas offered by the volcanic lakes will be exciting: Lucrino, Miseno, Fusaro and Averno where we will meet a stretch of dirt track

We will visitat one of the farms located along the coast of the lake at Lago d'Averno, tasting wines and snacks of own production, walking through the magnificent vineyards

Tempio of Serapide o Macellum of Pozzuoli: The Temple of Serapide is one of the best known and most representative monuments of the "Campi Flegrei".
In 700 "King Carlo of Bourbon, intrigued by large columns of "cipollino marble" that came out known as" Vineyard of the three columns ", ordered an archaeological excavation and, under many meters of marine residues, was dug up. Temple of Serapide, which, over the centuries, has become the symbol of Phlegraean bradyseism.
It is known as "Temple of Serapide" beacouse of the discovery of a statue of the Egyptian god Serapide, currently exposed at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which portrays him seated on a throne as a judge of the dead, with his head covered by a wicker and reed basket (calathos) symbol of fertility, while reaching out to the dog Cerberus.

Aragonese Castle of Baia: built in the Bacoli’s area, on an important strategic point. It is located on a promontory naturally defended to the east by a high rocky precipice overlooking the sea, and by deep depression given by calderas of two volcanoes “Fondi di Baia” to the west . They are part of Campi Flegrei with the addition of walls, moats and drawbridges. The castle dominates the entire Gulf of Pozzuoli up to Procida, Ischia and

Cuma. The position allows avery broad control of the zone, preventing any surprise attack against Naples.

Piscina Mirabilis: in Miseno, during the Augustan Age, it was built the largest Roman cistern of drinking water to supply the Misenensis Class. They sat up the most important Roman Empire fleet moored in the port of Miseno. Completely dug out of tufa, it represented the final Augustan tank that, from the sources of Serino, carried water to Naples and Campi Flegrei. In the nave stands a limaria pool which was used as tailings and waste tank for the cleaning and the emptying of the tank.

Casina Vanvitelliana: beginning from 1752, the area of Fusaro became the hunting and fishing area for the Bourbons, who entrusted Luigi Vanvitelli with the inicial works for the transformation of the place. When Ferdinand IV ascended the throne, the interventions were completed by his son, Carlo

Vanvitelli. In the 1782, he created the Royal Hunting Lodge on the lake, near the shore. This building, known as Casina Vanvitelliana was used as residence of distinguished guest as Francesco II d'Asburgo-Lorena, Wolfgang Amadeus

Mozart, Gioachino Rossini and, recently, the President of Repubblic Luigi Einaudi.
